Former Disney Exec, Bernard Gershon joins MIT Seafood Startup

Seafood marketplace E-Fish, which launched out of MIT Sloan last year, continues their momentum by adding Bernie Gershon on board as a strategic advisor to the company.

Bernie Gershon is a former senior executive at Disney who's secret sauce is his ability to connect media, technology, and entertainment leaders. The E-Fish team is enthusiastic about working with Mr. Gershon on their partnerships, organic acquisition strategy, and media relations.

“I’m thrilled to be combining my passions for fresh food, fine dining and smart start-ups,” Bernie Gershon said.  “The E-Fish team is terrific and I look forward to helping them scale – pun intended!” Bernie joins existing advisors, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Chef Mark Lapico, and Chef Gregory Brainin.

“Partnering with someone like Bernie is a no brainer,” E-Fish CEO Jeff Tedmori said. “We’re helping independent fishermen to build nationwide brands. The challenge with that can be amplification of our voice in the broader media. What better way to lower that barrier than by working closely with someone who’s made connections in the space for decades.” According to Tedmori, the company plans to lean into content and storytelling over the next few quarters to bring chefs and their ingredients in your home.

About E-Fish:

E-Fish is a seafood marketplace connecting buyers of seafood to independent seafood wholesalers at scale. The products they sell are so fresh that they’re typically still swimming when a customer places an order. Since its launch, E-Fish has focused on direct to consumer sales although the founding team has extensive experience working directly with Chefs. The team previously founded a seafood distribution company which supplied Jean-Georges and other high-end restaurants across the country with some of the same products they now sell on E-Fish.
